DDSTUDIO is joining the #Movember movement to help raise awareness and encourage open dialogue about prostate and testicular cancer among our employees, dads, brothers, sons, uncles, and next door neigh-bros. We also want to see what sweet, sweet ‘staches the men at the studio can grow in the name of good fun and good health. In the words of an English proverb, “a man without a mustache is like a cup of tea without sugar.”
Yesterday, Charles lectured in a product design course at UCSD. The students just took part in a lesson created at Stanford, where they are asked to design a wallet for a classmate. The project is an initiation into designing from the user perspective, and Charles was asked in to address the necessity of gaining comfort with your market persona–both the “cute familiar” and the “scary unknown.”
The 2013 WLSA Convergence Summit was a smashing success, with the brightest and most innovative minds in Connected Health coming together to discuss key issues facing the wireless health community. As a part of the Summit, DDSTUDIO’s Charles Curbbun and Ant Creed hosted an interactive session entitled “Bang the Drum!” where they challenged a group of thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors to create powerful messages promoting the benefits of connected health.

This Summer, DDSTUDIO was proud to participate in the Connect in SD with CONNECT event. Hosted by Mintz Levin and co-sponsored by DD, the meetup gave companies and entrepreneurs the chance to share wisdom and knowledge. Thinkers, shakers and movers from around the county participated, and many have called 2013 the annual event’s best year so far!
DDSTUDIO was proud to participate in the WLSA Convergence Summit 2013, held at the Omni Hotel San Diego, May 28-30. The Summit is an annual, internationally significant event for the wireless health community, showcasing thought leaders, entrepreneurs and investors in this rapidly growing domain.
Last week we hosted a block party at our studio in collaboration with the City of Carlsbad for local executives to network with fellow leaders from companies that reside in our beautiful beach town. Exhibitors including SPY Optic, Interknowlogy, prAna, ViaSat, 5D Robotics, Cobra-Puma Golf, Zimmer Dental, Forecast 3D, and Chuao Chocolatier showed off their innovative products and services while the Carlsbad Aquafarm shucked oysters on our patio and the Chop Sooey food truck served up tasty treats. Collaboration and creativity were in the air while we celebrated the amazing technologies and industry leadership in Carlsbad–check out the photos below!
Y18 has come and gone, and it was yet another inspirational conference to fuel our creativity. This year it wasn’t a veteran design firm showing off, or the young guns with cutting-edge ideas that really stuck with me. Instead, I felt a message bigger than the individual presentations coming through loud and clear: doing what you love–your personal projects–can lead you to better opportunities in your career.
