The Why
DDSTUDIO has been Foresight Sports Design partner for 10 years. We were thrilled when they reached out again to design Falcon, a new ‘value’ product for the home. This personal, ceiling mounted golf simulator would have the world class technology and ease of use of their professional devices but be a smaller, lower cost option for players to use at home. Falcon has been received as a welcome addition to the Foresight Sports Family -launching them into a new, rapidly growing direct-to-consumer market.
The Who

The How
Consumers want the benefits of enterprise technology in their personal lives, so B2B companies are engaging design firms to help them reimage their offering as a consumer product. Foresight Sports is no exception. Their in house engineering team integrated DDSTUDIO designers and our user centered approach to help them arrive at a viable new solution.
Project objectives were: Decrease size to ensure the product is safe, effective and appropriate in the home, Retain family image, Create look & feel that satisfies consumer expectations, Increase perceived value with use of colors, finishes and materials, Apply strong BRAND to a consumer sector without diluting b2b markets.
We started by understanding the product needs from an “avid golfer’s” perspective including “out of the box”, installation, set-up, use and results. The team explored ways to decrease the size and weight as well as retain proportion without compromising technology requirements for camera spacing and location. Installation details were tested with users to ensure the set-up, mounting brackets and power source location were intuitive. The visual aesthetic was elevated to a consumer look with stunning lighting configuration, hidden connectors and metallic design details.

The Feeling
Once installed, the simulator needs to disappear. We used a reductive design approach that maintains the Brand image while blending forms to create a more integrated look and feel. All interactions are through a phone app.
